CASE STUDY: Grinding Bearing Tracks with HPL

A bearing manufacturer contacted Meister Abrasives looking for help to improve their ID track grinding application. The customer was struggling with their current wheel performance after dressing and was looking to extend their wheel life.

Meister engineers designed a wheel utilizing a tough CBN crystal and HPL bonding to help hold wheel form and still grind efficiently. HPL (High Precision Lubrication) is one of Meister’s latest innovations, consisting of a porous vitrified bonding with anti-frictional properties. This solution increased wheel life by 30% and provided a more stable grinding process before and after dress. The customer has proven this solution with extended testing and now runs this wheel in serial production.
