In this application, a customer was grinding the face of a hardened steel valve plate in high-production using a conventional aluminum oxide cup wheel, achieving an average wheel life of 10,000-25,000 parts.
The goal was to increase productivity by increasing wheel life and reducing the downtime for wheel changes. Meister’s solution was to upgrade the process with a vitrified CBN wheel, which improved wheel life dramatically, while maintaining all quality requirements.
