Successful Application of Meister Pellet Wheel Technology for Fine-Grinding of Clipper Blades
In this case study a high-volume manufacturer of hair clipper blades wanted to improve their grinding process and specifically reduce the onset of burrs. The pellet wheels they were using produced high grinding forces that resulted in plastic deformation (smearing) of the material and burr formation.
The solution involved the use of Meister’s porous high-performance vitrified bonding in an optimal pellet configuration and design to minimize forces and provide a clean and productive cutting action.
As a result the burrs were almost eliminated, which significantly reduced the post-grind deburring process. Furthermore the wheels were able to cut faster at a reduced cycle time, allowing the customer to be more productive and increase their capacity. They now use 3-4 wheels per year, each lasting approximately 1 milion parts.
